DeAngelo Williams is returning to the Panthers.
Adam Schefter is breaking the news on ESPN right now, reading off a script prepared on his phone. He’s reporting that because Cam Newton’s contract will be about half Sam Bradford’s of last year, the Panthers can throw that money (and have) at their own free agents. Excellent reporting as always during “Scheftergeddon” (whatever ESPN thinks that means).
It’s a good move for the Panthers. Recent trends have shown that strong running games can protect rookie quarterbacks while they get their head around the speed of the NFL game. The Panthers have a very solid offensive line and two stout running backs. Should make for a dangerous combination. Now they just have to get Cam Newton in the building.
