The Giants defense took a huge blow in last night’s preseason game against the Bears, losing starting CB Terrell Thomas for the season with a torn ACL.
Thomas was the Giants’ leading tackler last year and also had 5 picks to go with it. It seemed like he was due for an extremely solid season, but no more. With DB Bruce Johnson out for the year and rookie Prince Amukamara out until October (and who knows how long until he gets the feel of the NFL), this Giants secondary is looking VERY thin in a division where they cannot afford to be (bonus fantasy points for Vick and Romo. Also I guess for whoever wins the Redskins QB competition, like it matters). Aaron Ross is not a starting-caliber CB in the NFL, and it gets thinner from there, so we will see if the Giants are able to overcome this in the regular season.
In the meantime, if I was Kelvin Hayden, I’d be waiting by the phone. New York may be calling soon.
