According to Pro Football Talk, the Jacksonville Jaguars have undergone the quarterback shuffle once again. Reportedly, they have released David Garrard a week before the opening game. They get their information from Jay Glazer and frankly, wow.

Luke McCown will apparently start week one, which to me means Blaine Gabbert is in as soon as McCown struggles.

You’ll recall this is the same maneuver that Byron Leftwich received a few years back. The team simply cut him last-minute. I personally don’t like this style of release and reminds me of Carson Palmer saying that his brother was being toyed with by being kept on the team. If Jack Del Rio knew he was going with McCown why not cut him when they cut the rosters down to 53? Or why not trade him or release him earlier. Hell, even the Redskins found a way to do that with McNabb.

At any rate, the odds of Jacksonville making a run this year went down dramatically with this move.
