Here’s a couple little facts for some Viking fans to most likely vomit over:
Sunday Adrian Peterson had 12 carries for 73 yards in the first half. He also had a nice touchdown.
In the 2nd half he got 5 carries for 5 yards.
In all three games this year he’s rushed for at least 70 yards in the first half (98 and 86). In both those games he received less carries in the 2nd half, when the Vikings supposedly had leads and would be running the clock (9 carries in the first half, 7 in the 2nd Week 1 and 14 carries in the first half, 9 in the 2nd in Week 2).
I won’t say this is the biggest problem for the Vikings, but when your best player isn’t either taking the game under his control or isn’t getting the opportunities to do so it’s going to cause problems. Factor in that Toby Gerhart is in the mix more now and you’re limiting Adrian Peterson’s touches per game.
Christian Ponder might not improve the quarterback play for the Vikings, but he might cause the coaching staff to remember who it was that they just paid a ton of money to carry this team.
